Consultation for sarcoids
OrthEQ provide a consultation service for analysis of any potential sarcoids. A variety of factors are involved in deciding the most suitable treatment option for each horse, as there are multiple options often available.
A significant proportion of cases have laser ablation surgery performed. Diode laser removal has very successful results, with low recurrence rates compared to other treatment options. This surgery is well tolerated and involves limited aftercare other than management of any post surgical pain/inflammation.
This is routinely carried out at the client’s premises and involves:
- Standing sedation (some cases may be referred for hospitalisation if a general anaesthetic is advised)
- Local anaesthetic
- Laser removal surgery
